Even if an ornament looks like an inviting toy, it could contain small parts that may cause choking or even intestinal blockage if eaten. Additionally, make sure all strings and cords from lights and other holiday decorations are kept away from your pet as these items pose a risk of strangulation or electrical shock. 

Food Hazards 

Tempting treats are abundant during the holidays—but not all food is safe for pets to consume. Chocolate is particularly dangerous; even small amounts can be fatal. In addition, many types of nuts (almonds, walnuts, etc.) can cause serious digestive issues if consumed by your pet. To avoid any potential problems with food consumption this holiday season, stick to feeding your pet their regular diet, and make sure they can’t get into any scraps. 

Plants & Flowers 

Plants and flowers are also potential hazards. Poinsettias are well-known for being poisonous if consumed, however, there are many other common plants that should be avoided as well, such as holly berries and mistletoe leaves. It’s best to keep them out of reach or opt for non-toxic alternatives such as artificial flowers instead.
